Task:
Task 1:
The quiz (online) will assess individual student understanding of:
evidence-based practice and process; sources and types of knowledge; clinical questions; reflection; clinical reasoning and clinical judgment.
Quiz questions will be taken from lectures and tutorials delivered across weeks one, two and three and also, the week 4 pre-recorded lecture. All these materials (week one-four pre- recorded lectures and week one-three tutorial activities) are available from the beginning of semester.
You will have one attempt only at undertaking the quiz (online).
Task 2:
The oral assessment ensures sound communication skills are developed which are required for all interactions as a health care professional. The team ePoster provides the opportunity for students to work as part of an inter-professional team. Overall the assessment requires the student to describe, discuss, explain and demonstrate a structured search process based on a health related clinical question/scenario.
There are two parts to this assessment:
- Team ePoster – one (1) ePoster (electronic) will be created by each team and uploaded to the dropbox in LEO by every student.
- Oral presentation – using the ePoster as a prop (digital) and with your allocated teams, each student will deliver a two (2) minute oral presentation using a script that answers one of the questions (a-g) regarding the search process. The script will allow individual students to demonstrate their understanding of the search process.
Task 3:
Students are required to demonstrate the ability to reflect on a health scenario and critically appraise the evidence (primary research paper) provided in relation to a health scenario. Students are required to identify strengths and limitations of a research paper at a beginning level. Finally, students are required to discuss the factors which influence the use of evidence in practice. The critical appraisal of evidence must be supported by a minimum of four (4) references which are valid and varied academic sources (e.g. Greenhalgh et al. 2017; Hoffman et al. 2017).
