Public administrations Multiple possessions have to be considered when the ethical obligations are being considered of the public administrators. Some of the things which have to be considered are administrative responsibility, public interest, ethical obligations and the dilemma of privatizing the functions of government. Many individuals believe that although some people still follow Machiavelli’s teachings and philosophy in their hearts, the majority individuals do not follow his teachings or philosophy. Paul Douglas, the former Illinois Senator stated that, “Instead, most men want life of integrity and goodwill in which public officials are stewards rather than masters and treat their jobs as a means of helping people rather than dominating them (Douglas, 1952).” He also stated that the United States government is very big and our lives are affected by it, we cannot be content with the idea that the public administrators merely behave with moderate levels of behavior. There is a small amount of misbehavior with public administrators that brings harm (Douglas, 1952, p. 19).
