Q1: The embryonic period is the first 8 weeks of conception. Some very important things happen during this stage:
-Cells can begin to divide as early as 24 to 30 hours after fertilization.

• By 3 to 4 days after fertilization, the dividing cells of the embryo assume a spherical shape and the embryo is called a morula.
• 1.5 weeks after conception the embryo implants in the uterus. Once the embryo implants, the cells start to produce hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG. This stops menstruation, which will help the pregnancy move forward.
• at 2.5 weeks, embryo has formed a epiblast which produces 3 specialized tissues:
  Ectoderm gives rise to numerous structures including the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skin, nails, and hair.
  Endoderm produces the lining of the respiratory system and digestive tract
  Mesoderm forms the heart, kidneys, bones, cartilage, muscles, blood cells, and other structures
• The brain is divided into 3 parts: forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain by 3 weeks
